This piece is inspired by the 'fa'asigano' or male pandandus bloom that is found in the Samoan pe'a tattoo. The bloom is a traditional motif used in the 'pe'a', a sacred tattoo given to men in Samoan culture. This piece uses the motif in a more pop-art type of way.
